Review on Black Sun and the Noise of Time by The BNR Metal pages, 2006

It's not every day that one hears competent doomdeath from Hong Kong, but Hyponic is one such band, with the earliest formation taking place back in 1996.Black Sun is their self-released 2001 debut, and it's not bad at all, a bit rough in places and at times a bit samey, but decent all the same, featuring classically ultra-low-pitched death growls, (almost inhumanly low), and tempos ranging from typical slow doom up to mid-paced at their fastest (fast being a relative term here -- this is doomdeath after all). Apparently The Noise Of Time, released four years later, takes on an even slower pace, more in the funeral doom mold.
